The Culinary Arts degree program at Yorktowne Business Institute was founded in 1998 to serve a growing need in the region for Culinary Arts and food service training. The program is approved to award the Associate in Specialized Technology degree.

Graduates will immediately qualify for positions in restaurants, clubs, resorts, convention centers and cruise lines. Many graduates move on to become Exective Chefs, Food Service Managers and Restaurant Owners.

Culinary Arts Degree Program

  • Fully equipped on-campus teaching kitchens
  • Student-run Restaurant open to the public
  • Nationally recognized curriculum includes competencies developed by the American Culinary Foundation
  • Curriculum includes certifications in Nutrition/Sanitation & Safety, Dining Room  Service and Servesafe® from the National Restaurant Association
  • Lower tuition costs than comparable programs in the Baltimore, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia areas
  • Curriculum includes American Regional as well as International Cuisine
  • Program includes six week externship

Professional Baking & Pastry Program

  • Dedicated Baking & Pastry kitchen with classroom area and chocolate room
  • Students can complete the program in as little as 12 months.
  • Students will learn the science of baking as well as the art of decorating and sculpting.
  • Graduates will receive national certifications in Nutrition/Sanitation & Safety and Servesafe®
  • Program includes four week externship
